Edward is famously chivalrous and protective of true love Bella in the vampire franchise – and it would seem some of his romantic ideals have been rubbing off on Pattinson.
In an interview with Berlingske TV, the British heartthrob said he would be willing to die for true love, saying he believes anyone else truly in love would do the same.
‘If you’re in love with anyone, I think the majority of people would say, “If I have to die for this person, I will.” I mean, you don’t really love someone if you’re like, “No. Just let them die”,’ Pattinson said.
The actor, who is dating on-screen love Kristen Stewart in real life, also went on to defend Edward’s old fashioned ideals, saying he agrees with his attitude of simply wanting to marry the woman he loves.
‘Everyone is always telling me that Edward is kind of old-fashioned, but I always see him as fairly normal. I mean, he just knows what he wants,’ he added.
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 sees Edward and Bella tying the knot, before heading off on a steamy honeymoon.
Pattinson said: ‘We shot a bunch of sex scenes in a row just filming our faces having orgasms,’ describing it as the ‘most embarrassing thing I’ve ever had to do’.

The number one movie in America is allegedly giving some viewers seizures.
“Breaking Dawn, Part 1,” the first part of the “Twilight Saga” finale, contains a graphic birthing scene involving star Kristen Stewart and the violent delivery of her child. ABC reports that the flashing of colors and bright lights have caused multiple viewers to suffer from photosensitive epilepsy, including a Salt Lake City man who was, “mumbling and he was blinking on and off with his eyes,” his wife told the news network.
During the build-up to “Breaking Dawn,” Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and director Bill Condon promised that the birthing scene would be as graphic and dramatic as possible.
“I think within the confines of a PG-13 rating, I think we’ve got something that’s pretty powerful,” Condon told Box Office Magazine, saying the scene was like one out of a horror film. “And in terms of the birth, it was, ‘Let’s do it from Bella’s point of view. Let’s see whatever she can see.’ Once you decide on an approach like that, it’s amazing how powerful you can be without being overly explicit.”
This is not the first film to allegedly cause seizures; in 2009, James Cameron’s digital extravaganza, “Avatar,” also reportedly caused some viewers to break into convulsions.
“Breaking Dawn, Part 1,” made $138 million domestically last weekend and is estimated to win the Thanksgiving weekend box office as well.

A human girl in love with a vampire has become one of the most common concepts in pop culture. But Robert Pattinson dismisses vampire TV shows such as “True Blood” and “The Vampire Diaries” as “Twilight” copycats.
“It’s like that Coke versus Pepsi thing, and how Coke just said ‘There’s a reason everyone compares themselves to us,’” he said, according to Web site Hollywood Life. “‘Twilight’ was the original and everybody’s trying to copy it. They’re all just trying to jump aboard the ‘Twilight’ train.”
The third film in the “Twilight saga,” “Breaking Dawn Part 1″ opened last week and has already grossed more than $222 million. Meanwhile, stars Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, who are a couple offscreen as well as on, spent some time together in London this week. The two were spotted at a Marcus Foster concert and were reported by witnesses to have their arms around each other, swaying to the music.
Stewart starred in pal Foster’s music video, “I Was Broken,” earlier this year. She is currently in the UK filming her new movie, “Snow White and the Huntsman.”
